I wanted to keep my eye
on Sebastian.
The easiest way was an in
school suspension.
I would be
supervising.
I watched him that first
day, sitting at the table in the library.
He was nervous, fidgety.
He never looked at me,
but he was constantly looking over his shoulder.
I sat down across from
him.
I asked him if he wrote
the letter from Tommy.
I didn’t mention Cherish.
Sebastian shook his head.
“I got another one. Thing
was sitting on my pillow when I got home last night.”
I ask him what it said.
He reached into his
backpack and pulled out the letter.
He handed it to me.
