I couldn’t help but ease
drop, but I could hear Doug and Marcus talking.
They were tucked away in
an alley between two small shops.
They were whispering
passionately.
“You abandoned me!”
Doug sounded like he was
crying.
“I tried to get to you. I
tried to get to the city.”
Marcus was pleading.
“I thought you were
dead. Do you know how much that
terrified me? The thought of you… you being dead scared me more than any of
those demons ever could.”
I leaned in, wanting to
hear the rest, but a tap on my shoulder made me turn.
“Don’t you know it’s rude
to ease drop?”
Alana was staring at me,
a smirk on her face.
