“Ren John, try and keep up.”
Alana was waiving at me, Doug by her side.
We had been traveling for only a day, but it felt much
longer. My muscles ached and my back was
stiff.
Traveling with Kay, Doug and Nora had been brisk, but not
like this. Alana seemed to never run out
of energy, and Doug didn’t seem fazed by the pace at all. I suddenly felt very unsure about my role in
this quest.
“We should start thinking about finding shelter soon.” Doug
glanced up at the sky. “The sun is about
to set, and who knows what’s lurking around here.”
