Janelle’s
face flickered on the screen, and I could feel my body tensing up.
“She
isn’t in here.” Janelle’s voice crackled with static as the connection wavered
in and out. “I looked all over the place. Your mom is still in the normal
world.”
Relief
rushed over me.
“I
can try checking some digital outlets, but moving around safely in here… well,
it’s getting more difficult. There are so many of them around.” The image
flickered out, then came back on, holding steady for a few seconds. “You might
be better off searching on foot. I’ll let you know if I…”
The
connection cut out.
“Mom,
where the hell are you?” I needed to find her. I needed to figure out where the
hell she had gone.
But
how?
