Luke’s smile was forced.
“I didn’t know you were coming over.”
I make up an excuse.
I play to that jealousy he has failed to hide from me.
I tell him that I needed to see him. I needed to get away
from the crazy for a little bit.
He buys it.
He steps away from the door and lets me in.
As I pass him I notice a small, Bluetooth earpiece wedged in
his right ear.
